Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) Familiarisation Checklist

The purpose of a Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) Familiarisation Checklist is to ensure that the operator of the MEWP has the necessary knowledge and skills to operate the machine safely and effectively. A MEWP Familiarisation Checklist covers various aspects of the MEWP, such as its controls, functions, limitations, hazards, and emergency procedures. By completing a MEWP Familiarisation Checklist, the operator can demonstrate that they have read the operator’s manual, understood how the MEWP works and moves, and received familiarisation training and instruction from the rental agency or the owner of the MEWP. A MEWP Familiarisation Checklist also helps the operator to identify and report any defects or problems with the MEWP before using it. A MEWP Familiarisation Checklist should be completed daily, before each use of the MEWP, and whenever a different type or model of MEWP is used.
